Cool Winds Lodge opened the doors of Cool Winds Pre-Primary on the 19th of January 2011, with 3 children and 4 staff members. A guest house room used as a classroom. Within 3 months the school grew to 20 pupils, just over a year later 56 little ones spend their school day at Cool Winds Pre-Primary and the school now has more than 60 children.
The school was the initiative of Zelda Koekemoer, one of the owners/managers of Cool Winds Lodge. Zelda received her B.Com degree in 1995 and her Higher Education Diploma in 1996, she started as a High School teacher in Accounting and Business Economics. Thereafter she managed the Internal Training department at a HR & Payroll company. She is a qualified Assessor registered at the services SETA. After moving to Hilton, Zelda did a number of Early Childhood courses through UNISA, which she passed with distinctions. Zelda is passionate about education and is currently working on an Honours degree in Education, specializing in Early Childhood Development.
Zelda's uppermost thought is that children are apt to live up to what you believe of them. Children have unlimited potential and we as adults need to nurture them and help them to grow. Teaching them to count is not as important as teaching them what counts.
Cool Winds Pre-Primary's Mission:
Our main focus is on the "Little" people in the community. Stacia Tauscher said. "We worry about what a child will become tomorrow yet we forget that he is someone today. Children are like wet cement; whatever falls on them makes an impression".
The school follows a Christian based educational program. We hope that this facility will provide a good service to people in our community. There is a major shortage of educational facilities for children aged 0-3 years.
Cool Winds Pre-Primary's Vision:
God makes three requests of his children: "Do the best you have, where you are, with what you have, now." Our vision is to make an impact on all the lives of our "Little people" for years to come.
