The Hilton Train Station was first built in the late 1800s and now Station Stop Coffee Shop has revived the building to its original authentic self. It has been the “dream-come-true” for Dave Ballance, an international barista judge, and owner of Country Ground Coffee, to open a coffee shop in this spectacular venue, being able to work with what he’s passionate about (serving great coffee).
The coffee shop’s furniture is that used in the original Train Station and the museum houses a myriad of wonderful relics from time past, including the original silver service used on the very first Blue Train in South Africa. The atmosphere as you walk into the shop is one of happiness, as memories from a bygone era assail the senses, never mind the delicious smell of freshly ground coffee. The coffee shop, as well as serving truly delicious coffee, also serves food items like muffins, cakes and toasted sarmies on ciabatta and sourdough.
Outside, the giant steam locomotives serve as “jungle gyms” for children to play and imagine on, as well as lots of comfy outside seating in a peaceful and safe environment for parents and grandparents to relax and enjoy.
