Saturday 28th at 15:30 (TBC) you're invited to a public walkthrough starting at the municipal building. The walkthrough will take you from the municipal building to the final bus stop. We'll look at the all the existing and new art and some of the artists will be available to chat about their pieces.
Remember that Art in the Country is on the 27th, 28th and 29th at Harrington House.
A massive thank you to RE/MAX Midlands and The Hilton Ratepayers Association for their generous sponsorships.
Thank you to Greg, Nikki, and Rodney Downs from the Quarry Spar for generously donating the artist's lunches throughout the festival.
Thanks to Tony Morcom from Hilton Construction for his huge support around the bus stop installations. Thanks to JP Prinsloo from Umngeni Tourism, and Kate Janse Van Rensburg and Teresa Duggan.
Kyle Judd Smith our superstar videographer from Filmshark Studios have moved mountains to film the festival and we are unbelievably grateful to have him on board.
And most importantly thank you to ALL the artists for bringing their magic.
This is Hilton
This is BOOMTOWN
Picture caption: Siyabonga Sikosana is one of the BOOMTOWN festival artists, he paints iconic landscapes that straddle the border of reality and imagination. Looking at his township scenes is a voyeurs paradise. Open doors reveal private conversations, everyday life unfolds before our eyes, snippets of a greeting, the crunch and scrape of a gravel path. A lonely Coke can. The breath of a plastic bag. It's place, and it's home.
Siya is painting... wait for it...
The Hilton Sign outside the municipal building. The Hilton sign has been white for too long... it's time for a landmark to appear, and there's no better human to make this happen.
