Easter Weekend is here! Bring out the chocolates... But not for your pets!
Enjoy the long weekend with your loved ones and furbabies, but remember, chocolate is bad for dogs!
Chocolate is bad primarily because it contains theobromine and caffeine, both of which are methylxanthines. Dogs metabolize these substances more slowly than humans, leading to a buildup in their system, which can be toxic. Theobromine and caffeine can cause various symptoms in dogs, including vomiting, diarrhea, rapid breathing, increased heart rate, tremors, seizures, and in severe cases, even death. The darker the chocolate, the higher the concentration of theobromine, making it even more dangerous for dogs.
