Welcome to this third edition for October, heading to you at a jolly trot under the headline photo of happy residents at Everglades Stud.

Have you noticed that the KZN Midlands gardens are looking rather fine, in particular look out for the Mackaya Bella with its lovely white trumpet flowers. This show is largely thanks to many hard working gardeners who juggle life and their many busy tasks; watering a little at cooler times of day, mulching to reduce evaporation, pruning Albertines, Dot Perkins, Banksias, Viburnums, ornamental fruit trees and Spirea, planting seedlings under overcast skies, popping garlic cloves amongst veggies to deter moles, thinning fruit trees to minimise a small fruit harvest, dividing irises AND planting festive colour pots and baskets! In between all these fun distractions please do remember to #LoveLocalRealHard.
