Daydreaming my way around an expo in Durban some years back I recall a slight and attractive brunette approaching me, she introduced herself as Jes Foord.I recognised her immediately from the newspaper photographs and was awed by her humble and brave approach as she explained that the lime green armbands she was selling would help to establish her foundation, to provide support for rape victims. My sense of this young lady's combined courage and fragility comes easily to mind as I think back to that chance meeting.
Jes Foord is a heroine of our times, her power to turn trauma into something positive with ripples that will bring balm to women for years to come is legendary and vividly illustrates the Prayer of St Francis.
The Quarry Centre has, together with select sponsors and participants, expanded their focus on Mother's Day in May, to bring us an opportunity to contribute in a small but significant way towards this great project.
I'd like to encourage Hilton women to buy a ticket, they cost R150.00 and the full spend goes straight to the Jes Foord Foundation.
