Umhlanga CBD gardens are beautifully kept. Verges are cut and drains are kept clean.Their beach boardwalks are litter free and well maintained.
The positive effect on property values, public perception and tourism have been tremendous and has benefitted all those who live there. How do they get it right? Because the local businesses stood up and took control!
Like you, we love our community. We have a passion for Hilton and its people.
Sadly, due to the current state of government and our municipalities, resources are limited to be able to maintain (& improve) the standards we would like Hilton to be at.
The reality is that if we as business do not step in and help upgrade Hilton, our village as we know it will deteriorate, property prices will plummet and business growth will decline as investor confidence and tourist numbers follow suit.
Our proposal.....
- The Hilton Business Initiative, (HBI), is registered as an NPO.
- For a nominal fee of R200 per month businesses can join this initiative
- There will be an option for larger donations
- The project will pilot for 6 months to establish its feasibility, the feasibility based solely on the support of Hilton Businesses.
- The initial project will be a major clean up & upliftment of Hiltons public gardens, lawns, drains, verges, sidewalks and signage from Grace College to the Crossways traffic lights.
- Hurst Projects has been consulted to provide the garden maintenance services. Weekly meetings with be held between Hurst and the project leader, Kate Warr to assess progress and determine weekly projects.
