Tuesday was hot and humid. We played for potatoes from John Fowler. Winners on 12 ends to 6 were Derick Hull, Margie Seale and John Bayley. The heat again deterred some bowlers on Thursday. As the evening brought cooler air, many who had not played arrived to listen to Dr Andre Morrish talking about knee and hip replacements. There was lively interaction between the doctor and a number of hobbling bowlers who are having to consider joint implants.
The IF Trips competition on Friday was won by Ed Sharpe, John Arnott and Shelagh Bowness. In second place were Horse Beeching, Jo Boonzaier and Jenny McHendrie. We thank Investment Facilitators , represented by David Mason for their support.
There was another early start on Saturday when we gathered to compete for the Charles Prickett Cup. Winners of very liberal Quarry Spar vouchers were Jean & John Pluke with Nina Guest. Runners-up George Oldham, Colin Watson and Peter Wilson also won vouchers. Tom Hartley, Welly Horne and Shelagh Bowness each got wine for their third place. Our club is deeply indebted to Quarry Spar, not only for the wonderful prizes, but also the super lunch they provided.
