At a recent Midlands Woodworkers Guild meeting held on the 11th February, members of the guild demonstrated jigs and tools that they find useful in the various disciplines of woodwork. Many of the jigs and tools were made by the woodworkers themselves to facilitate particular techniques or ensure a more accurate construction.
Here are some photos of members explaining about the jigs and tools that they find useful in woodwork. (You may like to choose one or two.)
Walter Baird demonstrated a jig to ensure precise angles.
Les van Rooyen demonstrated his electronic device.
James Lund made a jig to cut perfect wheels for wooden toys on a band saw.
Marcus Kruger made a jig to cut perfect dowell rods.
Gavin Westwood demonstrated several jigs to assist in furniture making.
Meetings of the Midlands Woodworkers' Guild take place on the second Tuesday evening of every month at 7pm in the Crafts Hall at the Royal Showgrounds in Pietermaritzburg.
Visitors are welcome.
