A Winterskloof resident, Des Yeoman, spotted a Spiny Flower Praying Mantis on a rosebush and managed to capture a little video. Head to our Facebook page and see the pinned post to enjoy the footage.This is a very special sighting. Sadly this mantis was subsequently consumed by a common green Praying Mantis.
The Pseudocreobotra wahlbergii is a relatively small insect which measures between 25 to 50 millimetres and is native to Southern and Eastern Africa. At birth they look much like a black ant!
