The annual Hilton Junior Tennis Tournament was held on Saturday, 18 July 2026, with an excellent turnout of young players despite the event taking place at the end of the winter school holidays.Approximately 40 entries were received ahead of the tournament, with a few late additions and withdrawals keeping the overall numbers steady across the various age groups: Under 8, Under 10, Under 12, Under 14 and Under 18. Tournament organisers were blessed with perfect winter sunshine, creating ideal conditions for a full day of junior tennis. The schedule ran smoothly, with singles matches played in the morning followed by double
s in the afternoon, and all matches comfortably completed on the day.Special thanks go to Mitch Deetlifs and Richard Katandika, whose hard work and organisation ensured that the tournament ran seamlessly and made the day look effortless. The tennis was played in a wonderfully positive and enthusiastic spirit, with plenty of encouragement from players, parents and supporters throughout the day. A number of parents commented on how much their children had enjoyed the tournament, while also noting the improvement they had seen in their children's tennis.
Events such as these provide an excellent opportunity for young players to gain valuable match experience, build confidence and, most importantly, enjoy the game in a friendly and supportive environment.
