The Hilton Ratepayers Association, Love Hilton and Luke Volans combined efforts today to action a sidewalk clean-up of overgrown vegetation along Cedara Road in Hilton. The star of the show was a Spearhead Armed Mower with a 6-metre reach which Luke’s company ServWorx has invested in as part of their corporate social investment. The mechanism has a spinning brush which is 1m in diameter to make cleaning up effective. Love Hilton staff managed traffic calming flags and will action the necessary manual sweep up once the mechanised effort is complete.
Hilton’s Ward 6 Councillor, Kate Janse Van Rensburg, was present to express support of community involvement in making Hilton beautiful.
Mike Tarr (HRA Chairman) and Luke Volans are working on a cost-based proposal for the continued provision of regular maintenance for Hilton’s verges, this document will be negotiated with uMngeni Municipality and the provincial authority to authorise the work being done.
'While normally this function falls upon the authorities, the reality is that there are gaps between what is achievable right now and the tidy and safe Hilton we all want. We appreciate this big effort from ServWorx.' said Mike Tarr (Chairman of the Hilton Ratepayers Association).
