Inspired by Autumn, Hilton based mosaic artist Sarah Pryke is madly busy creating stock for the upcoming Harcourts Hilton ART in the Country exhibition's second annual event at Harrington House on 25-28 May in 2023. Sarah is usually fully occupied with commissions and while she still is at the moment, she will (for the first time in a very long time) make some pieces available for sale.
'I’m a biologist who creates detailed and unique fine at mosaics inspired by nature.
My mosaic artworks are created exclusively from glass, often in different forms. I carefully hand-cut each piece of glass to the desired size and shape to create shading and specific patterns. I also hand sculpt and fuse (melt) layers of glass to create detailed shapes and elements, which help add interest and texture to the artworks.
Although glass is a rigid and often unforgiving medium to work with, I love the reflective nature of glass, which changes depending upon the lighting and the angle of viewing. This reflectivity brings an added dimension to the artworks, allowing them to continuously change, and helps bring the scenes and subjects to life.
My mosaic artworks have won numerous awards (recently (this month) shortlisted for the African Wildlife Artist of the Year), and found homes arund in the world in private homes, business and luxury game lodges.' shared Dr Sarah Pryke.
