'I paint in washes of colour, building it up to give life to my paintings and a feeling of real depth and perspective. The strongest influence of my life, was growing up in and getting to know the untouched wilderness of the Kalahari in Botswana during the 1950s. Hunting with Bushmen as a small boy and farming there as a young man, taught me respect and love for the never ending Savannah which will never again be seen on the same scale, untouched and vast. I thank our Maker for the privilege of that experience and now for the opportunity to express that love through my artwork.' says Hilton based artist, Chris.
Meet Chris Watcham when he will exhibit his artworks at the soon to open Harcourts Hilton ART in the Country. Open from 10am on Thursday until 2pm on Sunday, the event will shut at 8pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
Be sure to find your way to Harrington House on the Hilton College road where this cultural spoil happens just once every year.
