9pm: Mel & James
Melanie Nash discovered her passion for singing at the tender age of 6, fueled by her mother's unwavering belief in her exceptional voice. At 13, she was gifted an acoustic guitar, marking the pivotal moment that would shape her future. Songwriting quickly became an obsession, with melodies and lyrics incessantly flowing through her mind – and Mel also teaching guitar and vocals to children for about ten years. Mel seamlessly blends her love for teaching guitar and vocal training, finding joy in guiding others on their musical journeys. Her recorded works on Reverbnation and Soundcloud showcase her unique sound, with more material currently in the works
James Edward has been in the music industry for the greater part of 20 years now. “Eyes of Sunglasses,” the first single off his debut EP, recently hit number 1 on the SA Top 40 on MixFM and was playlisted on East Coast Radio. He has written and performed as James Robertson as a member of Spoonfeedas, a multi-charting SA group achieving a number 1 on 5fm, as well as other charting singles in the Top 10 and Top 20. He then went on to form Cubic Inch and again enjoyed radio popularity, opening for Bryan Adams on his tour to SA. He then formed Serrotone with Peter Guthrie and Billy Kruger, and they have performed alongside Freshly Ground, Prime Circle, and Wonderboom, to name a few.
8pm: The Name On The Drum
“The Name On The Drum” is an alternative rock, folk and indie band that focuses on playing original music but they also insert a variety of covers into their live shows. Ranging their sound from full electric to simple acoustics, “The Name On The Drum” uses all the tools at their disposal to create a unique blend of honest, thought provoking song-writing with absorbing musical performances. With influences that include, Rise Against, Bob Dylan, Frightened Rabbit, The National, Angus & Julia Stone and Gregory Alan Isakov, their song writing also creates awareness of current world issues. Current performing members are brothers Ben and Nat Bruzas who, in July 2019, released their independently recorded and produced second EP “Souvenirs”. Based in Hillcrest, they have played extensively around SA, and have just released two new singles "Rain song" and "Just like we're born" which are available to stream on all streaming platforms.
7pm: The Nikhil Darson Trio
This is a newly formed trio led by Nikhil Darson (a student of Skippy Khubeka). Normally featuring Skippy Kubekha, the trio will adjust slightly as Skippy is unavailable this week. The trio also features the Midlands’ evergreen drumming sensation, Paddy Austin, with Nikhil himself on electric guitar and vocals. The Trio plays play a variety of styles from contemporary and classic RnB and soul to classic rock. Skippy has been a teacher and a mentor to Nikhil over the past couple of years but now the Midlands bids a temporary farewell to Nikhil, who leaves to go to Stellenbosch University.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: MiTH takes place every second Wednesday at The Knoll Historic Guest Farm, Knoll Drive, Hilton. Doors open at 6pm and the music will kick off at 7pm. Entrance is R50 at the door. Food and soft drinks are available for sale. A cash bar is available.
DIRECTIONS TO MiTH: Take the N3 to Hilton, take the Hilton turnoff and go South into the Village (away from Hilton College). Travel 5,2km along Hilton Avenue (past two sets of traffic lights and Crossways Pub) and keep going straight as Hilton Avenue turns into Dennis Shepstone Drive. At the 5,2km mark, Knoll Drive will be on your right – the entrance to MiTH is the second entrance on your left into The Knoll Historic Guest Farm.
