Ukuthula Sandplay
Ukuthula Sandplay offers silent group sand tray sessions for individuals both children and adults. As an activity or intervention, sand tray sessions support creativity and inner processing and this encourages and activates healing. Anyone can participate and no artistic ability is needed. A series of sessions is effective for developing a sense of well-being and assisting with trauma, anxiety, depression and limiting and detracting issues.
In circumstances where one-on-one talk therapy is not affordable, accessible or appropriate group sand work sessions offer containment and support and, the development of inner resources and life skills.
The project requires donations for setting up sand rooms with shelving, sand trays and miniatures. Group sessions are run by supervised, trained volunteer facilitators and funding is required for the costs involved. Each facilitator is required to commit to a group for 6-12 weeks and to run the sessions each week on a designated day, at the same time.
