Hill to Hill Cycle for Laddsworth Pupil

Sven van Zuydam, a Grade 7 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School took part in the Hill to Hill 15km cycle on Saturday 15 April 2017, at Shongweni Club in Durban. Sven came 11th in his age group, and 54th overall.

So I hope everyone had a great time off with family and or friends...The Easter bunny may or may have been a friend or foe.. that all depends on if you over indulged, under indulged or restrained!!

Challenges in life come in all shapes and eggs. MY one client had just one, the biggest in his life.. I had mentioned prior to his journey leading up the hardest event in the world (apparently it ranks top 5 as all 5 are just as hard).Seeing him beaming this morning as if he was a new man, feet are pretty trashed. But what would you expect to run over 270 km over 6 days and enduring 51 degrees in the hot Saharan Desert!

I cannot be prouder of this man who not only started from scratch, but came back telling me he wish he could have pushed himself harder, as he was strong physically and cardiovascularly. the only set back was the sheer agony in his feet, forcing some power walking. I am giving tidbits of information as it isn't my story to tell, but to give you feedback on a great effort. Showing us that the mind is the thing holding you back from your dreams or allowing you to pursue them. No matter how big or small. Go for it!!!

This event is a catalyst for many other events, today two days later back in gym to train for the next event and much else surrounding. There is a documentary that will be released as the crew followed a lady who climbed Everest and did the same marathon this past week. The journey and the pain was recorded giving us insight what my client Andre and my boss Matt accomplished in a 45 minute spiel. This is not a email to go on and on on a man you haven't yet met, but to be inspired. We will set up a time to hear the journey.

I saw this great quote today: Always set big goals. Too often people tip toe around their goals not wanting to sound too bold and look foolish if they fail. I say be bold and look foolish. Who care? HOKA Kellyn Taylor.

The bottom line is to go for your dream, no matter how big or scary and pursue it! You might surprise yourself! You might inspire others! You might fail!! Who knows, but failing is part of the victory anyway so its not failure in the end!!!

I cannot urge you enough not to hold back and not to try hold back on your dreams, it is built to make you come alive!!

#FATMUSTFALL

Well hasn't South Africa had quite a week, solidarity and unity is something that will RISE. If we operate out of a place of fear we will run scared and lose and forget all the good things that are in store for this nation. There is lots of promise and potential. 1994 was meant to be a disaster and a blood bath and yet a miracle happened. I believe the same is for RSA in this next month. We need to feed the promise and not the fear. Good things are in store for this country, sometimes it doesn't look like that in all the mess. I heard a good example this week of how renovation in the new shopping centre in Howick, may be inconvenient to park and get into the shops, but how amazing the blue print and plans are. Same for South Africa! Let us rise up as South Africans and pray for our nation for God to do a miracle again!

There is a lot of things with # and a crede #FEESMUSTFALL, #ZUMAMUSTFALL, well I'd like to start a campaign #FATMUSTFALL... This year I have successfully lost 7kg's. When I cut out sugar I had:

• More energy
• Required less sleep
• Fat loss in stomach and thighs
• The mist/ or brain fog that lingered like the Hilton mist, that we often don't know we have left! A greater ability to think clearer.
• Skin was clearer
• Less water retention.

When the body has unnecessary sugar, the body has to do its own re-shuffle, making the pancreas work harder, banking more fat and massive debt owing to the body for nutrients. I had succumbed to the sugar cravings and like most of us after a long day when tired tend to eat the less healthy choice. After getting back the fog, losing energy, I decided it’s TIME to kick the sugar habit once and for all, a few of us are on a #FATMUST fall no sugar until the 2nd of JULY. If you would like to join us, please feel free to send me a What'sApp and I can add you to the group. It is tough with Easter being next weekend and the chocolate temptation, when the penalty is 15 Burpees for every cheat, that is being kind for the equivalent of Burpees to cheat ratio is insane.

Another way to make healthier choices is to exercise first before changing the eating ways. This Thursday our popular BalletRIP will be on at 72 Main Street, Howick at 5pm in the small hall.

Friday can kick some fat with Gymnastics and BalletRIP, it’s great for all ages and fitness levels.

Laddsworth pupils enter the Cordwalles Mudman

Mudman 1 002 Laddsworth Grade 6 pupils entered as the “Ladds” team in the Full Mudman on Sunday 19 March 2017 at Midmar Dam.

Callum Pollard (700m Swim), Thomas Truter (20km Cycle) and Nathan Cunningham (5km Run) competed in the Under 18 age category, and completed the course in a time of 2:05:10, which placed them 5th in their age category and 11th overall.

They were the only group of Under 12’s to enter the Under 18 age category. Well done boys, we are very proud of your achievement!

Laddsworth pupils ranging from Grade 1 to Grade 7 also took part in the Cordwalles Mudman on 19 March at Midmar dam. Our active pupils took part in many categories from Mudskippers to the full Mudman.
Well done boys and girls!

Laddsworth pupil represents SA at the Nations Mountain Games

Rachel Tegg was awarded South African Equestrian Federation (SAEF) Development Colours for representing SA in the Nations Mounted Games Championship in 2016, at the Annual Inter-Provincial Tournament (IPT) Dinner, during the April holidays.

Let’s get straight to the point. None of this on top of the shoulders mustard nonsense. From right here under the noses of everyone in Cape Town, a creative kaleidoscope of criminals named Sunset Sweatshop has been born, and they’re hitting it up with a new refreshed outlook on music. Each member of Sunset Sweatshop - consisting of Ian Heyns (Lead Vocals and Acoustic Guitar). Rossouw Wentzel (Lead & Rhythm Guitar). Victor Green (Drums), Nick Forbes (Keys and Guitar) and Richard Dicks (Bass Guitar) - is equally talented on their instrument of choice. Everyone is consistently busy eating, breathing and living the magic that is music, and letting it bleed through their fingers to create a sound and feel that is synonymous with South Africa’s vibrant flair. This five-piece indie, goema, reggae and even boeremusiek and marabi infused outfit hails from the northern suburbs of Cape town and was formed in October 2016. And that’s not all MiTH has in store...

Summer du Preez is a musician based in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. She tarted her musical journey at MiTH, among a few other places, and it’s wonderful to welcome her back. From originals to covers, she and her guitar aim to capture the audience with her folk indie approach. While she is influenced by artists such as Alanis Morissette, and the Cranberries, Summer strives to be unique. Music has been her passion from a young age. Her favourite musicians are Ben Howard, Daughter, Birdy, James Bay and many more.
