DIRECTIONS TO MiTH:

Take the N3 to Hilton, take the Hilton turnoff and go South into the Village (away from Hilton College). Travel 5,2km along Hilton Avenue (past two sets of traffic lights and Old Main Brewery) and keep going straight as Hilton Avenue turns into Dennis Shepstone Drive. At the 5,2km mark, Knoll Drive will be on your right – the entrance to MiTH is the *second* entrance on your left into The Knoll Historic Guest Farm. (Dennis Shepstone Drive is currently under heavy construction – so please be very cautious.)

 

7pm Summer du Preez (feat. the Nostalgic Duo Blend)

Summer du Preez is a musician based is Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Afrcia. From originals to covers Summer makes her style of music shine through. Even though it's just her and her guitar Summer aims to capture the audience with her sweet yet powerful voice. Her Music is described as follk indie. With influences such as Alanis Morissette and the Cranberries, Summer wants to be an artist with a distinct difference from the other musicians. Music has been her passion from a young age. Her favourite musicians are Ben Howard, Daughter, Birdy, James Bay and many more the list could go on forever. The Nostalgic Duo Bend will be joining Summer for three songs. Geoff and Johnny Zest have been performing for close on 18 years together at various venues but mainly in restaurants and private functions. Their style of music is tailored for quieter laid back material and allows folks to be able to enjoy a nice meal whilst allowing them to still chat yet enjoy the mellow acoustic sounds of the duo.

 

7:30pm Chelsea-Belle

Chelsea-Belle is a folk singer/songwriter who performs contemporary music with her guitar. Country music is a major influence for her, as well as local artists such as Matthew Mole, Ruby Gill, Majozi and Jeremy Loops. Needtobreathe, Florida Georgia Line and Lady Antebellum are some of her favourite bands, as well as the artist Dustin Lynch. She got her first guitar when she was eight and has been known to avoid doing work by spending hours playing guitar in her room. She thought of the tune and first few lines of her first song on the back of a motorbike just outside Pretoria, had to keep humming the tune all the way back to Maritzburg to remember it, and was extremely surprised to find she did remember it when she arrived.CHELSEA-BELLE is a Folk singer/songwriter who performs contemporary music with her guitar. 8pm The Kunjanis

The Kunjanis are a rock/ country/ folk/ acoustic act consisting of Craig Dean Anderson, Jaco Horak, and Stefan van Wyk. They move around a lot when we play., and they all sing. Instrumentation incudes guitars, bass, drums and piano, and influences include Kings of Leon, John Mayer, Fleet Foxes, Radiohead The guys are all doctors doing their internships in Pietermaritzburg, but studied at Stellenbosch together. They all enjoy a warm cup of coffee, fluffy slippers, and New Zealand accents.

 

9pm Pénte Filía

Pénte Filía means "five friends." The idea behind the name is that regardless of how many bands members there are, we will always be friends first. The band is led by Timothy Paul Naidoo and wife Mercydez. This duo has grown up in musical surroundings like family and church since the age of seven. Married in 2009, Mercydez is a great singer and the duo has performed together for many years. Now they have decided to form a band with (bassist) Mitchell Reddy, (musician and producer) Jordan Govender and (drummer) Nathaniel Charles. These friends have been playing music together for many years and have formed a bond on and off stage. Good music, great vibes and a few surprises are in store this Wednesday.

MiTH is a semi-open mic music club. An opportunity for musicians to share the joy of their music with a friendly audience which includes fellow musicians – who have all “been there” too. (Non-musicians welcome too!)
